history of St Catherine's

St Catherine's Grounds

This beautiful house was a Convent for the Sisters of Mercy Congregation who served as teaching staff for St Kieran's Primary and Secondary Schools.

The house was built in 1965 to replace the much older and very crowded Convent on Cape Street and was at that time dedicated to St Catherine of Siena, one of the special saints particularly venerated by the Sisters of Mercy.

In 1992 the House was opened for hospitality.
